Soo, for my photography class I have to make a flier about book cover designers (because that was like the only one left :p He was assigning jobs)
Anyways, I started on this at like 2 AM last night (I am a horrible procrastinator), but worked on it for like ten minutes (but I wrote a bit more today). Think he’ll notice I was lazy?

The Beautiful Warriors, AKA “book cover designers”, started their amazing reign of awesomeness in the medieval times by a man named Abraham Lincoln (not the president. That guy stole his name.).
Lincoln was incredibly frustrated by the lack of decoration on book covers during that time. So much, in fact, that he would lock himself up in his tower for hours, his head buried in between his knees, pleading for relief. That relief found him, one day, on a sunny afternoon, while he was crying over his cornflakes.
There are many versions of what events took place that day, but this is what is most commonly believed. Lincoln heard a stranger pitter-patter sound on his windowsill, but when he looked to see what it was, he saw nothing. He just excused it off as insanity or maybe invisible rain the first couple of times it occurred.
“Let me in! Let me iiiin!” a voice finally groaned from behind the glass. His attention was breached at last and he opened the window. In front of him stood a stout, chubby, and balding man with glittering wings strapped to his strangely hairy and rotund back. It was… a fairy! Before Lincoln knew it, the fairy pointed a stubby finger to the center of the room and out of the tip erupted a peculiar beige dust. The dust hit the ground and immediately began transforming rapidly into human bodies. They kept on popping up until at least thirty of them had filled the room. Lincoln was astonished and looked around for the fairy for some answers, but he had disappeared, leaving no explanation.
It remains unknown what exactly happened next, except that Lincoln had an idea to train these men to design book covers that were bearable to look at. Over the course of twenty years he built up an army of them and they worked under the title of Beautiful Warriors. However, some loser decided one day he would call them “book cover designers” and the name caught on.
As the years progressed, more people decided they wanted to be Beautiful Warriors as well. A countless plethora people arrived at Lincoln’s door, begging for a job. Most of them got rejected, though. It was required that the person be creative, artistic, and have at least two years of similar work experience (Most of the people requesting jobs were smelly hobos looking for easy money). Lincoln had suddenly become responsible for so many talented, magical people and he didn’t know where to put them all! One Friday he shoved them all into and huge boat and sailed across the Atlantic to stumble upon a convenient, ginormous island, which was inconveniently occupied by natives. For many years, they lived in peace with the people, until one day some jerk named Christopher Columbus “stumbled” upon it as well and screwed everything thing up.
When these mean men with funny accents came and took over, Lincoln ordered his armies to hiding. Albeit when peace was finally settled, they came back out an acted like they had been there the whole time. For the rest of their days they continued on their job as silent heroes, incredibly unappreciated.
Lincoln’s extremely long and unbelievable life was irrevocably ended on August 15th, 1969 when he was trampled by an elephant. The warriors held a funeral for him on the same day, but, alas, some high hippies crashed the party and the event is now known as Woodstock.
Do you find all of this *hard to believe*? Well, believe it because I know what I am writing about. I am a direct descendant of Abraham Lincoln.

Pop-ups, love them or hate them, they work. The new ones that slide in slow seem to be less irritating than the old ones that just pop-up. The new ones are un-blockable as well. It seems, if you don’t use a pop-up, but have an opt-in form lower on the page, you get far less sign ups. The other option is to not use either, but use a squeeze page “pre-sale page”. The squeeze page also irritates some people; they just click away.

I would not use the old style pop-up. People hate them and they can be blocked. The new style slide-in pop-in moves slowly and seems to te tolerated by most people. They also are unblockable. Internet Marketers use them because they work. You will get far more sign-ups from your opt-in list with a slide-in pop-in than you would get with a fixed sign up form further down the page. We are in the attention age, you have about 10 seconds to capture your visitors’ attention or they are gone in a click.
I like to use a Strong headline, then in 3-4 seconds my slow, slide-in, slides in from the left. I don’t know if the left is better for sure, but it seems to get more sign ups. As my pop-in, slides in I have my opt-in sign up offering nice gifts for signing up. On the slide-in, I have an audio message starting automatically with a strong message of what’s in it for them, if they remain and read my sales page. This takes some testing to get it to perform to perfection. Use free or inexpensive advertising until you are seeing positive results. You always need to keep an eye on your ROI.
The new pop-ins work and I think you are leaving money on the table it you don’t use them. Be sure you have a dependable pop-in that works properly. There are many styles available today. One of the newest is the Phoenix or Lightbox. This style darkens the sales page to create full attention to the slide-in. I usually don’t use the Phoenix. Be sure you can control the speed of the Pop-in. Try them, they will increase your bottom line.
